MHK Architecture is pleased to highlight Veterans Park, a revitalized community park and multi-building complex located in Marco Island, Florida. Completed in 2022, the project spans approximately 10.8 acres and showcases MHK’s architectural design and master planning experience while creating an enhanced year-round gathering place for the community.
At the center of the park is the 5,769-square-foot Unity Bandshell, an open-air amphitheater designed to accommodate concerts and community events. Constructed with structural steel, the bandshell incorporates integrated acoustical baffles to help reduce sound transmission to the surrounding neighborhood. An open lawn provides space for audiences to gather and enjoy performances.
Additional improvements include a permanent 1,329-square-foot restroom facility, new playground equipment with shade structures and a dedicated picnic and game area featuring a life-size chessboard and bocce ball court. Trellised architectural elements, pedestrian walkways and landscaping further connect the different areas of the park and enhance the visitor experience.
Developed collaboratively with a landscape architect, the project thoughtfully integrates architecture, landscaping and pedestrian spaces across the site. Building on Veterans Park’s history as a gathering place for events such as its weekly farmers’ market and seasonal concerts, the revitalized park provides expanded opportunities for recreation, performances and community events throughout the year.
